Who We Support
Autistic Adults with High Support Needs
Fairmont Residential supports autistic adults with high support needs, including those with complex behaviours, limited verbal communication, or past experiences of placement breakdown. Our homes are structured and low-arousal, designed to offer stability and clarity for individuals who benefit from consistent routines and specialised support.
We also work closely with the people around them, from families and carers to ICB commissioners, local authority teams, and clinical professionals. Our collaborative approach ensures that every person’s care journey is shaped by those who know them best, and supported by a team who genuinely listens.
Who we work With
Families and Carers
We know that trusting someone else with your loved one’s care is a significant step. That’s why we view families and carers as partners, not bystanders. From the very first conversation, we listen, include, and collaborate, making sure families feel fully informed and involved in reviews, transitions, and everyday care. We value the unique insight families bring and build strong, respectful relationships that help people feel secure and understood.
Commissioners and Local Authorities
Fairmont is a trusted provider for ICBs and local authority teams across the UK. We deliver sustainable placements for autistic adults with complex needs, offering structured support, transparent communication, and robust outcome reporting. Our approach is evidence-based and aligned with CQC standards and safeguarding requirements. Commissioners can expect joined-up working, measurable results, and confidence in long-term outcomes.
Care Professionals and Clinical Teams
We work alongside social workers, community nurses, PBS practitioners, and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver joined-up support. From transition planning to ongoing collaboration, we welcome professional input and ensure communication is clear, consistent, and proactive. We respect professional boundaries and strive to build constructive partnerships that benefit each autistic person in our care.

Highly Structured, Individualised Support
Fairmont follows the TEACCH framework, a 24-hour, structured approach tailored to each person’s needs, strengths, and interests. This consistent and predictable environment supports autistic people with high support needs to build independent living skills at their own pace.
Enhanced Communication Support
We use PECS and WECS (Picture/Word Exchange Communication Systems) to provide clear, functional ways to communicate. This reduces frustration, supports well-being, and helps each person develop communication in ways that match their individual strengths, including autistic people who have intermittent, limited, or no speech.
A Safe, Nurturing Environment
Our approach is grounded in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and underpinned by thorough risk assessments. This creates an environment where people feel safe, understood, and respected. All staff are trained in MAPA (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression), ensuring they can respond to behaviours that communicate need with empathy, consistency, and skill.
High Staff Ratios and Skilled Teams
Fairmont provides 1:1 support throughout the waking day, enabling truly person-centred care that is adapted to each person’s unique needs. We invest heavily in recruitment, training, and professional development to ensure our teams are highly skilled, compassionate, and aligned with Fairmont’s values.
A Family-Inclusive Approach
We recognise the importance of maintaining strong family connections. That’s why we promote open communication, regular visits, and consistent updates from keyworkers. Families remain valued partners in every person’s support journey, helping to shape care that reflects each individual’s history, preferences, and relationships.
Driven by Research, Committed to Progress
Fairmont is committed to continuous improvement. We actively seek feedback from families, commissioners, and staff to guide development and enhance support. Through partnerships with leading researchers and academic institutions, we remain at the forefront of evidence-based autism practice, always aiming to achieve the best possible outcomes for the people we support.
