Kidderminster
The Home at Kidderminster was established in October 2007. The house has been renovated and specifically designed for four young adults on the autistic spectrum.
Location
The house is situated in a residential area of Kidderminster within easy walking distance of the town centre, local transport and amenities. Kidderminster is a small town of around 50,000 people situated 16 miles south west of Birmingham and 14 miles from Worcester on the River Stour. Historically, it is famous for carpet-making, and as the birthplace of Sir Rowland Hill, who introduced the Penny Post. It has a range of local facilities, including the Safari Park, the Severn Valley Railway, a leisure centre and cinema. |

Services
Kidderminster’ provides a year round, high quality, safe, caring and friendly residential environment for four adult service users, aged between eighteen and twenty five on admission, who are on the autistic spectrum, have severe learning difficulties and whose behaviours may be challenging. There are places for two male and two female residents.
Staff
We aim to offer service users the best possible support to develop their skills and meet their needs. Our staff are experienced in working with people with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder, severe learning difficulties and behaviours that challenge. All staff have been POVA and CRB checked, and at least 50% of staff are qualified to NVQ II and above. All our staff undertake targeted training to equip them to meet the needs of our service users.
Kidderminster’ is staffed for 24 hours a day. The service offers 1:1 staff: user support throughout the day and 1:2 waking night carers. When all four service user places are filled, there are 12 day staff, of whom four are on shift at any one time. There are also five waking night staff on the team, who work on a rolling rota. Each service user has an individual key worker who takes the lead in their support.
Service Manager – Paul Whitefield has nine years ’ experience of residential care.
He has worked with people who have a range of learning disabilities and complex difficulties, including those with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder, severe learning difficulties and behaviours which challenge.
